The Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 3718A was crafted exclusively for the Japanese market in 1989 to commemorate the esteemed Swiss manufacturer’s 150th anniversary. It is believed that merely 500 units were produced, each featuring either an ivory or gray dial. The craftsmanship of this model is exceptional, boasting a case that merges the allure of vintage and contemporary designs, a crown embellished with the Calatrava Cross, a case back inset with a golden medallion engraved “Patek Philippe – 1839-1989”, and a magnificent subtly grained ivory dial adorned with white gold indices and a small seconds at 6 o’clock. The watch is powered by the Patek Philippe 215 PS caliber, which bears the Geneva Hallmark, signifying outstanding chronometric performance and classic finishing.

The rarity of this reference is enhanced by the fact that steel, the material used, is the least common and most esteemed in the Calatrava collection, which debuted in the 1930s.

Our exquisitely preserved example still includes all its original accessories: the original black strap and its steel pin buckle (both signed by Patek Philippe), the Certificate of Origin, a brown document holder exclusive to Japan, a service book (which remains blank as this watch has never been serviced until purchased by Amplitude), a microfiber cloth, and even the credit purchase agreement of the initial owner!

This Calatrava exudes absolute elegance, embodying refinement and “quiet luxury.”

This Calatrava has been meticulously preserved in near-new condition since its inception 35 years ago.

The ivory “Sigma” dial remains flawless, showing no marks, just like the hands.

The case, likely never polished, maintains clean chamfers and distinct demarcations between the satin-brushed and mirror-polished surfaces. Only a few micro-scratches from use are visible on the case back and the backs of the lugs, which we have chosen to retain to preserve the watch’s authenticity to the fullest.

The black strap displays some signs of aging—we opted to retain it because we believe it is the original strap that was fitted to the watch upon its creation in 1989.

The accessories and documents accompanying this Calatrava 3718 are also in perfect conditions.

Warranty

All the watches available in our showroom have been meticulously inspected by our partner teams, consisting of experts, to ensure their authenticity and originality.

A check of the mechanical functioning and accuracy is systematically carried out on all products, and a complete overhaul is performed if necessary.

Unlike some resellers, we do not simply sell watches “as is.” Cases, bezels, metal bracelets, and other aesthetic parts are cleaned and, when we deem it desirable, polished while respecting their original appearance as much as possible.
